Donna Moore

Actress, Assistant Costumer, Crew

Donna has been dancing, acting, and singing on stage since the ripe old age of 27 when she auditioned for her first show. One show is all it takes to ‘get the bug.’ Since that bite she has been a part of regional, summer stock, and community theater musicals and plays. Favorite roles have included Nellie Forbush in South Pacific, Fannie Brice in Funny Girl, Peter in Peter Pan, Princess Winifred in Once Upon a Mattress, Sr. Amnesia in Nunsense (for which she won a TANYS – Theater Assn. of New York State – Award for Outstanding Characterization) as well as Sr. Robert Anne here in Torrance, Agnes Gooch in Mame, Ma Joad in The Grapes of Wrath, and Gladys in The Pajama Game. She has also played major roles in Hello, Dolly, Barefoot in the Park,They’re Playing Our Song, The Diary of Anne Frank, Lend Me a Tenor, The Music Man, Kiss Me, Kate, Good News… and ensemble roles in just about every other musical out there. Locally she has played the Armstrong, the Nakano, the Norris Center, and La Mirada stages as well as several (!) venues back east.

In addition to acting, singing, and dancing…Donna has choreographed The King and I, Carousel, Something’s Afoot, Hello, Dolly, Pippin and Company and costumed WAY too many shows to count!!! She is a jack of all trades backstage but leaves make-up and lighting to the experts!! She was thrilled to find The Torrance Theatre Company right in her own backyard when she moved back to the west coast.

Donna’s ‘day job’ is as a reading and learning specialist for The Buckley School in Sherman Oaks. She has been teaching/consulting for 30 years.
