Most South Bay theatergoers have seen Lois performing onstage through the years. From her early days backing up such great talents as Debbie Reynolds on national TV shows while touring the USA, she also sang on albums made by the Mike Curb Congregation and Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme. Through it all, Lois has sung to audiences nationwide. Yet the South Bay is where she calls home. Just in the last few years alone, she has appeared in over 30 musical and theater productions ranging from lavish Civic Light Opera productions to community t.heater shows. She’s played the diva and the ingenue; the wife and the mistress. She’s played the witch and the queen; the Lady and the lover. The Civic LIght Opera of South Bay Cities has staged her performances in 7 shows; The AEA sanctioned Musical Theater Guild of Los Angeles has seen her perform in 4 productions while Musical Theater West in Long Beach has been one of her favorites appearing in no less than 4 shows there. Lately, TTC has become a favorite venue appearing as Cinderella’s Stepmother in “INTO THE WOODS” and currently rehearsing in TTC’s upcoming and highly anticipated West Coast Premiere of its new comedy “THE DIXIE SWIM CLUB”.
When Lois took a sabbatical from performing, she realized her dream and became a full-time mom raising her 2 beautiful children all the while doubling as a hard working property manager. Vocally, she’s trained with such outstanding vocal coaches/stage directors as Calvin Remsburg (the original “Beadle” in the Broadway production of “SWEENEY TODD”), Edward Sayegh (the coach of Tony winner Victoria Clark in “THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA”) and Marge Rivingston, long time vocal coach of both Bette Midler and Linda Ronstadt. With her husband, Jack, she’s hosted Benefits for Lisa Matsko-Hamilton’s School of the Performing Arts whose proceeds have gone to fund scholarships for the South Bay’s finest young theatrical talents.
Lois’s CD, “THE SEASONS OF LIFE” features many of her favorite show standards while following the many moments of her life through song. In addition, she’s showcased her “Seasons of Life” cabaret show at the famous Hollywood Cinegrill in the landmark Roosevelt Hotel. |
