New non-profit takes shape and joins the cause!
For many years there has been a low rumbling amongst some of the TTC actors, production team, season ticket holders, and community members about creating a non-profit organization that could help support the TTC.
The TTC is a program of the Torrance Community Services Department, a department that has some experience with such support organizations, mainly the Friends of the Torrance Library, Torrance Library Foundation, and the Friends of the Madrona Marsh.
Now, there is a new kid on the block. Much like the aforementioned groups, the FOTTC exists to help support the TTC through fund raising, advocacy, and good, old-fashioned man-power assistance on productions.
They recently introduced themselves to the Torrance City Council during the difficult budget process, and encouraged the City to continue its support of the TTC and vowed to help insure that great live theatre would continue to thrive in Torrance.
The goal of the FOTTC is to help the TTC when the City's operating budget doesn't cover the production needs of the company, and maybe even raise enough funds to help with wish-list items that the budget doesn't even include.
The FOTTC will be making a splash at the Opening Night of The Pirates of Penzance, looking for new recruits, donors, and people who want to stay connected. Check them out in the lobby of the show throughout the two-weekend run.
We are so excited for this new organization to join us in our mission to provide quality theatre for an affordable price for the residents of Torrance and the whole South Bay! Best of luck to the Founding Board and the Associate Members as you begin this great, new endeavor!
